Is this normal?
My Puppy is six months old, almost seven and male. For the last few weeks he's been doing stuff that I think is fairly normal for a dog of that age like marking his kennel outside and he's discovered that, ummm... licking himself is fun. But he's also started doing something that I find rather stran...

Re: At my wits end
They own the house, so they can make me give him up. As far as playing with him and exercising him, I do CONSTANTLY. I can't take him outside and walk him much at the moment, so I try to make up for that by playing with him inside. The bottom floor is very open and has the same space as a large yard...

Re: At my wits end
So, what I was hoping to avoid has happened. One of my roommates gave me an ultimatum. I either get my dog to bark less or I get rid of him. If I could explain to them that this is just a phase and he'll grow out of it, or this is what we need to do to fix it, they'd be more understanding, but I can...

Re: At my wits end
Also, what breed/mix is he, and how much has he grown? Could it be his crate has become too small and cramped for him? I remember when my Annie outgrew her crate, she suddenly didn't enjoy being in it anymore, as it was just too small for her. As ladybug was saying, a lot of times puppies will just...

Re: At my wits end
He first goes outside at about 6 or 7 am, whenever he wakes up and lets me know he has to go potty. He has a kennel and what I'll do is go inside with him and we play until he goes potty, it normally takes about 20 minutes for him to finish his business. Resently he's started barking like a nut the ...

At my wits end
It's been almost two decades since I've had a puppy so I'm a little rusty on what's normal for them. My dog is 6-months old, what I've heard is like teenager time for them. Since he turned six months old, he seems to have forgotten every single rule for the house and is determined to find trouble ev...

Won't poop outside
Potty training with my new puppy is going good, except for one issue. He won't poop outside. He pees outside no problem, but he won't poop there. He only seems to want to poop in this one area were one of the cats has previously peed. I've tried taking him out about the time he goes poop and leaving...

Re: Puppy and bunnies
Thank you for your advice everyone. I think it bares repeating that I am not, nor ever was, planning on letting the rabbits out of their cages around the dog. This is a sighthound, a hunting dog, so I realise that him and the bunnies would not play nicely together if they were ever allowed in the sa...

Puppy and bunnies
Today, I just brought home my new puppy. He's about 5 months old, very sweet, full of energy and into everything. I also have two bunnies that live in my living room. The bunnies stay in their cages, on a banquet table most of the time. When they are out, the puppy will not be in the room. He's abou...

Re: Sound mats
I haven't seen this newest season either. I do love Victoria's training methods and have used them with my dog own and other dogs with awesome results. However, this mat is something I've seen her specifically use at least twice, I've also seen her use a child alarm on a fridge to keep a dog out, as...

Re: Sound mats
I've seen her use this mat at least in two eps of It's Me or The Dog both in cases where there's no one around to distract or keep the dog away from the problem object. That was why I thought to use it. I've also spoken to a cat behaviorist in my town, who agrees with me that a mat like that would b...

Sound mats
I saw Victoria using a mat that makes a loud sound to keep a dog out of a trash can that would go digging into it when the owner was away. Since then I've been looking for a similar mat but I can't find it anywhere. The only ones I can find are shock mats which I do not want to use. I have a similar...
