Thank you for that Joji. You are right - it is more of a game than fear. I shall work on the advice you have given me and report back in a few days on my progress.

Pup hates all brushes!

I have a puppy who is nearly 7 months old. He loves everyone and everything - with the exception of brushes! I don't know why but he has never liked them. I can't groom him at all because he just wants to eat the brush. He even hates me brushing my own hair and tries to get my hairbrush off me. I tr...

Thank you Nettle - that's good to know. Do you have any idea how long it takes for a puppy to go through the night (i.e. will I have bags under my eyes long term?)

Night Time Toilet

Hi, me again. Sorry to be a pest but I have another question. My puppy is now 9 weeks old and sleeps in my kitchen at night. He goes out for his wee etc. just before I go to bed (about 11pm) and I have been coming down at about 3am and putting him outside for a wee. Is this the right thing to do ple...

I bought a tuggy toy which he adores, but he still goes hammer and tongs for us! Time and effort needed here.

I also gave him a carrot which he was very wary of. Strange isn't it how they will pick up things they shouldn't but not the healthy stuff!

Thank you all for your positive feedback. I will see the vet again in a couple of weeks and will let you know the outcome.

Thank you Agilitypassion92 for your response. I have to admit that although I have bought some chew toys, I haven't got him a tuggy toy but I shall rectify that. Hopefully, as you say, this will resolve the issue. It is his favourite game at the moment and I don't want to start on a negative with hi...

PUPPY ROUGH PLAY

My little pup (8 weeks) has a burst of playful energy and will grab hold of our clothes, growl and tug at them. As soon as I get him off, he comes straight back in attack mode and re-attaches himself. What can we do that will stop him when he is in this mood? I don't want to get things wrong at this...

Thank you Nettle. I have had a chat with the breeder who was very positive. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that his murmur corrects itself.

My apologies if I have put this post in the wrong area. I have at least been blessed with a beautiful black bundle of puppy in the shape of a flat coated retriever. He is absolutely gorgeous and very proud of his sharp teeth!! However, I took him for his first jabs this week and was told that he had...

Thanks each and all for that.

I guess the next dilemma will be what to name the pooch! Family arguments all round, I foretell Image

Thank you for that Emmabeth. They are certainly a lovely breed and they do say that it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all!

I will certainly read more about lowering the risk factor.

May all our dogs be happy and healthy!

Potential health problems

Hello all, I would be interested to hear your thoughts. I and my family have fallen in love with flat-coated retrievers and would dearly love to have one join our family. However, I keep reading that they are very prone to cancer, even from an early age. Does anybody know if this is so, and whether ...

TRAINING DVD

I wonder if somebody could help me. I stumbled across this forum whilst looking to see if Victoria has produced a puppy training DVD. Having watched her programmes (and received years of nagging from my children) we have decided that the time is right to add a canine member to our family. I bought V...
