Sorry ma'am
loads of terriers have curly tails which we only see now that many are no longer docked.
I think you have a good ole Heinz 57 there. Looks a bit Staffordish about the head and with the broad chest, but the colour comes from elsewhere. You can get black and tan Staffords, but the breed purists frown upon it and it isn't often found.
What a happy dog!

Ah well that makes a lot of sense
None of the listed "curly tail breeds" seemed to fit at all. Thank you!

My first thought was that's what Ted would look like if he were a staffie

You're suggesting she's a chi then?

Apparently Rotties can have curly tails too, guess with them being docked tail wasn't something that was bred for so now they're seeing some weird and wonderful tails.

Ah of course, if no one saw the tail, how could they breed for it!
Little Cassie's tan facial markings look just the same pattern as a rottie's to me, too.

Not long ago there was a dog listed on Dogs Trust site as a Rottweiler-Shih Tzu cross

I'd like to think you're right, emmabeth
It's got the curly tail, the colouring, the smooth fur, and ears are roughly the same size, if wrong pose.

Eyebrows/color on the face kind of looks Rottweiler-ish to me. Beautiful markings! I love a black/tan/white dog.
at a bigger version of Ted !

Minkee, My 9 month old pup Frida looks almost identical to your dog, it's uncanny. If your still apart of this discussion I would like to send a pic.
