Rupert's 7 years old in may and after his evening walk will spend hours destroying a toy or chewing on a bone and trying to get us to play. I think he's Peter Pan come back as a dog to be honest

Do dogs ever calm down? Maybe just a little bit. However, I have had dogs who lived to be twenty-two years old, and as long as they are able, the answer to your question is no!

Currently, I have an almost six-year-old Akita and I don't see her ever calming down unless she is sleeping!

Dogs do calm down, especially when they older. I have a hyperactive toy poodle that really rests when its time to him to rest after a long walk and play in the garden.
